In the world it is estimated that, in 2012, 35,3 (32-38,8) millions of people lived with HIV.

 

This is growth in comparison with the previous years, because many people are taking antiretroviral therapy that saves life. In 2012, there were 2.3 (1.9-2.7) millions new cases with HIV infection, which showed decrease of 33% of the number of new infections of 3.4 (3.1-3.7) millions in 2001.
